Description

The Fiat G.50 Freccia was the first Italian low-wing monoplane fighter with an enclosed cockpit and retractable landing gear to go into production, though Italian pilots felt uncomfortable with the enclosed cockpit itself. Extremely manoeuvrable thanks to its licence built German Daimler-Benz engine, the Freccia was one of the best fighters during the Spanish Civil War, yet by the time World War Two started, it was considered underpowered and under-armed.
